Affiliate disclosure
This site is funded by affiliate commission and by nothing else. Here is exactly how that works.
Last updated September 1, 2026
The short version
Some links on Peep & Pen are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the retailer, at no extra cost to you — you pay the same price you would have paid going direct. That commission is what pays for this site.
Every earning link on this site is marked #ad at the point of use, carries a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, and passes through a redirect at /go/ so we can see how many clicks a page produces.
Amazon Associates
Peep & Pen is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Our Associates tracking tag is peepandpen-20.
Amazon is currently the only retailer we have an active affiliate relationship with. That is the normal state of a site this new — affiliate networks approve publishers with a history, and we do not have one yet.
Who we link, and who pays us
We keep this list rather than describing it vaguely, because “we may earn a commission from some retailers” is not a disclosure a reader can act on.
| Retailer | Do we earn? |
|---|---|
| Amazon | Yes — active affiliate relationship |
| Tractor Supply | No. We link them as a source or a reference and earn nothing |
| Omlet | No. We link them as a source or a reference and earn nothing |
| Premier 1 Supplies | No. We link them as a source or a reference and earn nothing |
| Run-Chicken | No. We link them as a source or a reference and earn nothing |
Links to manufacturer specification pages, university extension services, federal agencies and the Energy Information Administration are citations. We earn nothing from any of them and they are not affiliate links.
What commission does not influence
- Rankings. Products are ordered by a published rubric with published weights. Commission rate is not one of the five criteria and is not a tiebreaker. The rubric is here.
- Whether a product gets a negative. Every product on this site carries a “skip it if” line, including the ones we rank first.
- Whether we recommend buying at all. Several pages argue against buying anything — the coop heater roundup spends most of its length explaining why most flocks do not need one.
- Which retailer we send you to. Where a cheaper or better-stocked option exists, we point at it even where it pays less or nothing at all.
About the prices
Prices shown on this site come from a live data layer, are stamped with the date they were verified, and stop rendering automatically once they are more than 48 hours old. We never type a price into a page.
This build currently has no live price feed connected, so no price appears anywhere on the site and every buy button reads “check price on Amazon”. Whatever a page shows, the price you pay is the one on the retailer’s site at the moment you buy. Prices change constantly and retailers, not us, set them.
What we do not accept
- Payment for placement, inclusion or a favorable review.
- Free products or manufacturer review samples.
- Sponsored posts or paid links.
- Any arrangement that would make a commercial relationship affect what we publish.
The full independence commitment is in the editorial policy.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you think a link is not disclosed properly, write to info@peepandpen.com or use the contact form. We would rather over-disclose than have you wondering.
